In the November 2024 newsletter, Barb Dryer invited us into the wonderful sewing room she designed for her new home. Wendy took some pictures and this led to the idea of inviting guild members to join in. Whether you sew in a corner of the basement, use your dining room table, or are lucky enough to have a setup like Barb’s, we can all learn from each other’s clever use of equipment and space. We’re interested in where you sew, but also any creative ways to store fabric, organize rulers or other supplies. Maybe you have pictures to share, or Wendy could arrange to do a photo shoot.
Debbies Sewing Area
For December 2024 Debbie Taetsch stepped up. She sews in a bright finished basement. Debbie has sewn for a long time and had her own home decor business, making custom window coverings and selling wallpaper. She is very organized and enjoys making all kinds of of quilts and wall hangings. She has a large separate room for her pressing area and cutting table. That table displays a baby quilt she designed from donated fabric. The cabinet in the last picture holds her impressive ruler collection and houses stored batting and projects waiting to be made.
Barb’s New Sewing Room
I never dreamed I would have a space like this in which to escape, think, create and leave the real world behind for a bit. I appreciate this open and airy room that my husband designed into our new home (he does have a dream garage also, by the way) and it was a long time coming for both of us. I know that I am very lucky and I am determined not to take this space for granted!
