The May 12th meeting featured Cathy Jones from New Era. Cathy presented a wonderful trunk show of her quilts and stories of her travels to go with the quilts. From her website: “A member of the liberated school of design, I cut fabric up in pieces and sew them back together creating quilts. Be it traditional, modern, abstract, liberated or unconventional, I love all aspects of quilting and am addicted. You can also find me knitting, cooking, baking or reading, not necessarily in that order. Travel is my secondary vice.” Cathy was a close friend and colleague of Gwen Marston and the two artists together published a book, “Free Range Triangle Quilts”. The book is currently out of print but offers instructions on traditional quilts all the way into the modern era.
